Spring 2012 Class Schedule

 It's All In The Details

In this six week design course, we will explore exciting new decorating and design trends through in class lectures and interesting field trips.

Have you ever opened a design magazine, viewed a picture of a beautiful room and fallen in love with the design? Do you wish your Living room, Dining room, Kitchen or Bathroom looked like that? Many times a room's appeal is not so much in what is obvious but in what is not immediately apparent. Oftentimes the beauty lies within the myriad number of details that, when seen as a whole, create an awe-inspiring room.

In this design course, we will explore the numerous ways to enrich your home with architectural and decorative design details that will make it not only beautiful, tasteful and timeless but add long term value as well. We will discuss architectural details on homes and in the landscaped environment and take an in-depth look at dressmaker detailing on upholstered pieces, trims and passamenterie for draperies, pillows, table skirts and bed linens, explore carved wood detailing on casement pieces and finishes and stains on cabinetry as well as learn about the latest trends in faux finishes for walls, ceilings and furniture pieces. By the end of the course, you will understand why interior designers always say, "it's all in the details".

Field trips to design resources will comprise several class sessions.
